Support local artists by visiting inspirational exhibit

I had the pleasure of visiting The Healing Palette exhibition, sponsored by Regional Mental Health Care St. Thomas and the St. Thomas-Elgin Public Art Centre.
Art As Expression of Spirit, is an exhibition that contains the work of artists who have experienced, who are affected by, who are recovering from and who are in the healing process of mental illness.
The works ranged from paintings and drawings to photographs, sculpture, poetry and music. Through the inspired works of these individuals, we are given insight into the creativity of persons with mental health issues, their experiences and thoughts and the journey that has been their life.
This exhibit showed the courage and strength of the artists and made me think how incredibly empowering this type of venue is and what a inspirational way to encourage healing and recovery for persons with mental illness.
Let’s support our artists by visiting this very moving and inspirational art show and by doing so acknowledge that individuals with mental illness have much to contribute to our community as they embark on their personal journey towards wellness and recovery.
